History
The Families of Children with Cancer, Inc. was organized in 1974 by parents and healthcare professionals who saw a need for a support group. Since the first inception of our group, we have grown to be much more than a “support” group.
Families of Children With Cancer was founded on the belief that when a child is sick, the entire family is affected. Their support focuses on the individual child along with the family.
SOME OF THE SERVICES WE PROVIDE ARE:
Social events for entire immediate family
Limited financial assistance to families when there is a need
Family pack to a newly diagnosed family which consists of gift cards for a grocery store, department store, and gas cards
A Helping Hand Handbook – a binder where the family can keep all their important dates and information
(lab results, radiation treatment days, doctor appointments, etc.)College scholarships for the childhood cancer survivor/patient along with camp tuitions for child, siblings, and family
Mileage reimbursement for travel due to treatment
Bravery beads and funding for Pediatric Oncology Clinic Child Life Department
and much more!
EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
Diverse Support: Various family members, including siblings, parents, and even survivors, offer emotional support to families dealing with a child's cancer diagnosis.
Neglected Siblings: Siblings often feel overlooked due to the attention given to the sick child.
Community Support: Social events serve as a crucial avenue for providing emotional support to all family members.
Offering Hope: Sharing stories of survival and hope from others who've been through similar experiences significantly impacts families facing a cancer diagnosis.
EDUCATION
Information for Parents: Families receive educational materials and insights based on the experience of dealing with a child's cancer diagnosis.
Navigating the Diagnosis: Parents find themselves thrust into a complex world of medical procedures, appointments, and treatments, needing guidance and understanding.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Financial Strain: Families face increased expenses and reduced income due to parents taking time off work to care for their sick child.
Services Provided: Support includes various services such as gift cards, accommodation, travel assistance, and specialized items like wigs or hats for children experiencing hair loss.
Financial Relief: A range of services, from scholarships to gift cards and memorial funds, aims to alleviate the financial burdens of families dealing with childhood cancer.
We receive no federal or state funding and rely solely on donations from private benefactors, corporate sponsors, community organizations, foundations & fundraisers.
No salaries are paid and all money directly benefits Northeast Wisconsin & Upper Peninsula families of children with cancer.

We service families in the following counties in Northeast Wisconsin: Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Forest, Kewaunee, Langlade, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, and Winnebago.
